Emmy Lou Bowers
photos
Emmy Lou (Emmy for short) is a cute little Maltese who was born on April 28, 2006. She started coming to daycare when she was four months old and is one of our very first regular clients. She has matured quite a bit from the tiny ball of zooming fluff that she was five years ago! Emmy enjoys a variety of hobbies, including but not limited to: performance arts, flirting with the boys, swimming, hanging out with other white dogs, and eating. She is quite the social butterfly and has decided that since she is a founding member, that she should be allowed to help keep the younger whippersnappers in line!

MOM SAYS I'M PRECIOUS

By: Emmy

Am I cute or what?! Mom even said so when she filled out my paperwork when I first started coming to daycare. I made her write it in the line under "Other comments you would like us to know about your dog". I didn't want that fact to be lost on Jill and Jason, especially since they were new to the whole dog daycare thing. It has been fun growing up at the daycare, I've met lots of adorable fluffy white dogs like myself and quite a few cute boys. I think my favorite part of daycare is all of the special activities we get to participate in, especially those that involve food!
These photos are from Skyler's birthday. Her mom made us yummy ice cream treats...I love Skyler's mom!
Why, thank you, this looks delicious.
Mmmm...that's good. BRAIN FREEZE!!! Could I have another?
Although I don't like to admit it, I think my favorite non-food related activity is hitting on the boys. I think I might have already mentioned how cute I am, so I know it's tough for the guys to ignore my advances.
Harry is my favorite, and even though he tries to play hard to get, I know he's totally smitten with me.
Don't let Harry see this one, as I get a little kissy-face with Rudy and I don't want him to get jealous.
Sometimes I prefer to hang with my own kind, so I like when I get to see Toby, another Maltese who has a HUGE crush on me. (Can you blame him?!)
In general, I tend to gravitate toward other white dogs. I think it's only fair that sometimes I try to blend in with the crowd so that other, less cute dogs than me, can get a moment in the spotlight.
Button and I turn into one big ball of white fluff when we play together.
I'm sizing up Daisy Mae to make sure she doesn't think that she's more adorable than I am.
I decided that Daisy Mae is not a threat and that it would be alright to play with her. I also decide that I will let her sister, Abigale, hang out with us to prove that I do play with dogs that aren't white.
These are a few of the other activities that I enjoy participating in while I'm at daycare:
I LOVE when we have sing-alongs!
But I'm still not quite sure how I feel about chasing bubbles. If they were edible, I would be a huge fan.
And I always win the dance competitions. (Yes, I realize I chose to dance with another white dog.)
I really enjoy when we have pool parties. It really messes up my hair, but I'm willing to make the sacrifice in the name of fun.
I may need a stepladder to get into this one. A little help, please!
Apparently, I have a thing for leaning on pools! This is my original "mug shot" from when I first started coming to daycare. I think I have only gotten more adorable in the last five years, but that's just one dog's opinion. I bet if you asked around, though, everyone would agree that I am ridiculously cute, and I'm sure I have convinced you of the same!

Brando Kane
You may have noticed that something is missing from this photo...Brando's left front leg. He was born with four legs on October 31, 2008 (a Halloween puppy!) and his mom adopted him from the Humane Society when he was 11 weeks old . Brando joined the YWIP family in February of 2009 (his baby photo is at right) where he quickly became a staff favorite with his lovable attitude and joy of playing (not to mention that adorable face). Despite a huge effort by his mom to rehabilitate his leg with physical therapy, due to nerve damage it was amputated in late May of 2010; Brando was back in daycare at the end of July!! NOTHING slows him down. He adapted immediately to his new "handicap" and continues to enjoy his time here at daycare, where he has become quite an inspiration.

HANDI-CAPABLE, BABY!!

By: Brando

Do I miss the leg? Nah, I get way more chicks without it! Plus it makes me look tough (like my namesake) and it's a nice conversation starter. Some of the dogs look at me funny and sniff where my leg is supposed to be, but then they realize that I get around fine without it and that I'm still a lot of fun to play with. I have a high tolerance for pain, so the surgery was a piece of cake and my recovery was nothing short of amazing, if I do say so myself. My right leg is totally buff now and have more stamina than a lot of four-legged dogs I know. Definitely don't feel bad for me, because I am the definition of handi-capable!!
I have LOTS of friends at daycare because I'm quite the outgoing fellow. These two are my very best buddies:
Dash is my best guy pal. We hang out a lot because he stays with me when his parents are out of town. We've known each other since we were pups, although I would like to point out that I am 2 months older than he is. This is Bella, and she's my girl. We're brindle buddies and we are freakin' adorable together.
I have a weird, inexplicable obsession with Potter. I like to follow him around and lick his face; I even taught Bella the joys of Potter's drool.
My friends come in all shapes and sizes.  Here I am playing with Mia, who is vertically challenged, and Hagrid, who is most definitely not.
When it comes to playtime, I'm a good one-on-one wrestling partner. I also do well in groups and tend to attract others dogs to me since I'm so much fun. I'm a total chick magnet.
However, if you choose not to play with me, I will give you a piece of my mind. Right, Pups?
In fact, I am quite a chatterbox. I like to talk and often have conversations with the nice people at daycare. Unfortunately, I got caught on video flirting with Antonia. I'm a little embarrassed about it, but I think she's into me.
I believe that I have demonstrated without a doubt that I am not at all affected by having one less leg than nature intended. I have been called an "inspiration" and although I don't know what that means, if it's a compliment, I'll take it!!
